World-Wide Climate Teach-In

Join for two faculty-led panels at Augustana: Connecting our environment, our community and ourselves; and Awareness Vs Action: Finding your purpose and creating progress. There will also be a Business/Organization fair from the local area coming in to share their sustainability efforts.

Earth Day Big Sioux River Clean-Up

Join Friends of the Big Sioux River and the City of Sioux Falls for the annual Earth Day River Clean-Up event in Sioux Falls on April 22nd from 10:00 AM to noon! Together, we will work to clean up the riverbank to work toward a cleaner river for us all.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a waiver and check-in. From there, we will give instructions and start picking up litter! We will provide garbage bags, disposable gloves, and bug spray. You should consider bringing sunscreen, gloves of your own if you'd like, and your own grabber (if you don't want to bend down to pick up the litter).

Big Sioux Brew Release Party

In honor of Earth Day, FBSR is partnering with Remedy Brewing Company to create another batch of Big Sioux Brew - beer brewed from purified Big Sioux River surface water. Join FBSR for the official launch of the 2023 Big Sioux Brew on April 22nd!
Come grab a glass of this delightful German Pilsner and sample a delicious cheese pairing from local dairy farms, courtesy of Midwest Dairy. FBSR will be at the launch party to chat about the brewing process and current efforts to protect and restore the Big Sioux River Watershed.

Party for the Planet

Spring Into Action with your GPZoo April 22 and help us continue to care for our planet! We'll be joining a city-wide river cleanup - and having plenty of conservation-focused fun at the zoo!
People who want to come and clean up at the zoo can check in near the Admissions window. They will get a bracelet and cleanup supplies. We will also distribute cleanup kits, so volunteers can continue to beautify the community after this day.

Good Earth Day

This is a service project day for groups to come out and help with outdoor park projects. Trail cleanup, landscaping, playground improvements, Lake Alvin work - a full list of projects will be available. Meet at the visitor center. This come and go event is great for all ages! Park License is Required.
